Grow Stronger

Students explore strategies while learning basic self-defense techniques that are easy to learn and fun to practice. This is not a martial arts course but a self-defense course that empowers women and gives them a physical and mental plan of action when needed.

We tend to use our bodies less and less as we become older. Depending on your profession, you might spend 8 hours of your day sitting in a chair. We sometimes put our physical health on the back burner with all of the distractions. We rarely have the self-discipline to push ourselves out of our comfort zones when we make it to the gym.

Whether you want to be stronger, protect yourself, or be more active with your children, our self-defense class is an excellent place to discover an improved version of yourself.

A Look At Women's Self Defense

I do not look at the self-defense as it pertains to women much differently than I do for men, as in any attack the reality is that you have to attack back not just defend yourself. First of all, you have to assess the level of the situation but on a true attack or assault on women whether it is an attack, a rape or abduction or a robbery attempt. These are the most violent and what I wish to address.

The reality of violence is that it is swift brutal and usually premeditated when it comes to women. the facts are facts and when confronted with a situation you must be willing to go beyond what you may think you are capable of and do what must be done to survive the attack, nothing you do to defend yourself should be unthinkable and there should be no holds barred.

I have heard so many opinions on what to do in an attack situation and some I feel are valid points and some are not. the main thing I always try to stress when teaching a street defense course (Men or Women) is that your most powerful weapons are the ones you already possess, your mind, your internal instincts and your will. We all have the internal instinct to survive and to live, we just have to learn and be willing to unleash it if we have to.

In the case of women versus a man the size and strength difference will probably be significant therefore the women must be more cunning and determined than her aggressor, she must be willing to do whatever it takes to overcome and escape the attacker. The female must be willing to unleash the inner strength that our society has told her she does not have and realize she is capable of being the victor and not the victim.

I encourage every woman to take some martial art as I do everyone, we live in a world where there is no longer a safe haven to hide and having the belief that it will never happen to me and in my community is a farce. Traditional classes will give you a foundation in self-defense .seek instructors with real world credentials and train. Use your mind and become aware of the possibility that this may happen change your habits and become more aware of your surroundings and the people around you. Knowledge is true power.

Remember ladies that an attacker is almost always looking for someone that looks like a victim; they seek the easy prey for in their hearts they are truly weak. It is almost always the way that a bully will seek out the one they know they can defeat. It will be the lack of fear that you have in your heart that I hope will allow you to prevail and escape.
